My client is a tech start-up based in Bath. They have a product which is an online platform, developed by a mental health professional, which makes Mental Health Act assessment processes quicker, simpler and more secure, improving access to treatment for patients and generating efficiencies in this part of the crisis care pathway. They were recently revealed as one of 13 innovations selected to join the nationally-celebrated NHS Innovation Accelerator (NIA), an initiative which supports the uptake and spread of high-impact, evidence-based innovations.

The role

Applications and backend services are currently being built on AWS serverless components and a React based frontend. Backend services are written in JavaScript and TypeScript, but are open to creating Lambda functions in Rust, Go, and other languages as appropriate. Familiarity with AWS AppSync, API Gateway, GraphQL, Cognito, OIDC would be helpful, but can also be picked up on the job.

Requirements

Candidates will have the following experience and attributes:

  • Demonstrable experience with secure application development applications hold sensitive personal information
  • A diligent approach to code and familiarity with rigorous automated testing, RBAC controls, and multi-factor authentication
  • Experience with AWS SAM is desirable but not essential
  • Willing to contribute to any part of the application; candidates will be committed to learning and improving their skills across all parts of the software development cycle, and will approach problem-solving with long-term business impact in mind
  • Able to coordinate with other developers and agree which priority tasks will be tackled
  • We're looking for people who can work from home or office in Bath as required for planning, brainstorming and socialising. Home office equipment and communication technologies will be provided
  • We consider this a full-time opportunity but are willing to look at flexible working arrangements
