DevOps Automation Engineer (Cloud)

Role: Permanent

Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 (depending on proven experience)

As an established technology company delivering cyber-security, cloud transformation and infrastructure solution services to some of the UK's most respected brands, we want a DevOps Automation Engineer (cloud) to join our Birmingham office.

Including our Tier 3 SOC/NOC in that enables us to monitor and secure our clients' IT infrastructure on a 24x7 basis, we have 3 main offices within the UK, testament to our growth over the years to be a dominent entrepreneural organisation.



The Role:

The DevOps Automation Engineer will be working on project delivery as well as a third line support capacity for multiple clients. You will be responsible for designing, configuring, deploying and troubleshooting Cloud based Automation solutions using your DevOps knowledge and Engineering experience.

There will be a requirement to work as required from client sites to undertake activities that cannot be performed remotely.



Main Duties:

  • Designing and managing automated cloud deployments for clients using tools such as Terraform, Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Docker/Kubernetes, Jenkins, Microsoft Azure Automation & Salt Stack
  • Creation of CI pipelines to provide fully automated solutions for the Development Team.
  • Stakeholder requirements: Leading complex, technology infrastructure projects including engaging directly with customers acting as a strategic advisor.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving issues across multiple technology solutions.
  • Maintain excellent understanding of relevant portfolio of solutions; monitoring global market developments, trends and competitors, to ensure solutions exploit current and future technologies.
  • Contribute to the practice strategy by proposing new service and solutions capabilities and contribute to marketing activities such as writing white papers/media articles etc.



Required skills And Experience:

You will be required at times to work independently, towards tight deadlines whilst engaging with clients on important business-critical projects, therefore the following skills are essential as you will be needed to think 'on your feet'.

  • Extensive experience using Terraform.
  • DevOps tooks: Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Docker/Kubernetes, Microsoft Azure Automation & Salt Stack.
  • Cloud Platform: Azure/AWS Experience and knowledge of Multi Region & Multi-Tenant Topologies, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers, Proxy Servers, SNS, DNS, CDNs and WAFs.
  • Systems: Windows and Linux
  • Database Platforms: SQL, MySQL, MongoDB
  • High standard of written and verbal English communication skills

  • Consultancy: Acting as a strategic trusted advisor for 3rd party clients
  • Maintain excellent understanding of relevant portfolio of solutions; monitoring global market developments, trends and competitors, to ensure solutions exploit current and future technologies.
  • A thought leader able to contribute to the technology strategy and suggest new service and solutions capabilities. Contribute to marketing activities such as writing white papers/media articles etc.
  • Documentation: Extensive experience delivering presentations to senior management level, both internally and with clients, including support of presales and bid processes.
  • Strong understanding of architectural principles, procedures and roadmap development
